Though NVIDIA's Tegra 2 SoC must be powerful but still has its flaws in accordance with some standards. For instance, system-on-ship could certainly employ some additional energy efficiency, but Wolfson, which is a chip company based in Edinburgh, asserts that it can grant it. This SoC is one of the most demanded platforms, which is used for tablets now. It can be used for smartphones as well, but taking into account the power draw entailed by Tegra there are not so many devices that are able to use it so far. But still there are smartphones released on Tegra. It can boast of its video rendering and processing capabilities, which are unsurpassed but this is an additional load of battery sourced gadgets.
Santa Clara has a definite processor dubbed WM8325. According to the rumors it is the highest at present monolithic power management IC. NVIDIA apparently wants to put the IC into its Tegra 2 mobile gadgets reference designs, in order to neutralize its 2-cores consumption. It is worth reminding that this platform uses GeForce engine and 2 ARM Cortex-A9 cores.Time will show if the portable devices based on this chip will appear soon. |
