Mozilla revenues are going up

Even though the usmozilla-logoage share of Firefox was stalled, the revenues of Mozilla were up 34% last year, mainly due to money paid by Google search engine and some others.

In accordance with the audited financial statement, which was made public by Mozilla, income of the company was $104.3 million, and this is 34% more in comparison with $77.7 million for 2008. The biggest part of it goes from search providers.

Royalty payments, for instance, made $101.5 million and this is 97%, of the entire revenue, as it was mentioned in the Mozilla's financial statement. The same percentage and situation was observed earlier too.

But in the past, Mozilla did not reveal the sums it obtained from different search providers. 2 years ago, for instance, 88% of the search royalties were from Google search engine and the rest from Yahoo and Amazon.

The search functionality brings the biggest revenue that is comprised in Firefox product from Mozilla. The revenue is obtained from Google, Yandex, Yahoo, eBay, Amazon, and etc.

In accordance with the agreement between Google and Mozilla, Google is default search engine of Firefox, and Mozilla gets money from it for the clicks on ads that are placed on the pages of search results.
