Blue Screen of Death is not necessarily blue
Friday, 14 January 2011 00:00

The Blue Screen of Death has a bad fame and this is explicable. So many releases of Window OS took place but this thing remained unchanged.

But a new solution will appear soon. Just imagine that the same page could have different color. Let us fancy pink, red, or green page that would mean the same thing. Both versions of Notmyfault (32-bit, 64-bit) will provide you with this possibility. This tool became available thanks to the efforts of the Microsoft programmer Mark Russinovich and updated on the offer of Alex Ionescu. Now it is possible to do everything with one click.

Notmyfault was originally created like a buggy driver demo tool. It was designed to be employed at crash dump analysis presentations. Its purpose was also used for the Windows Internals book.

At present any user can select the color he wants for BSOD. One needs to run Notmyfault and choose the color by means of the color picker. Then “Do Bug” button will save that info and your screen will not become blue when BSOD error occurs.

During the system crash driver-registered callbacks are brought into play. They serve to add information in order to assist troubleshooter to find out data concerning device, driver state at the point when the crash took place.
Russinovich, the one who introduced this tool, is writing a cyber-thriller which is called Zero Day.
