New Upgrade for PlayStation 3 Gaming Machine Coming |
Monday, 27 September 2010 08:13 |
There is a software update download for Sony's PlayStation 3 game console waiting to be launched on September 21. After that, the console will be usable as a Blu-ray disc player, and, apart from 3D games, it will support 3D videos. Later this year, free update for various sorts of media content will be available. However, the exact date is still uncertain, since, according to Hiroshi Kawano, president of Computer Entertainment Japan, developers appear to be waiting for 3D to gain maximum recognition and popularity (Tokyo Game Show Thursday). Traditionally, the latest and most advanced game software tools are presented at this annual event. Prior to the main event that opened on the weekend, a preview exhibition took place on Tuesday, catching the attention of numerous editions, reporters and business persons. 3D is believed to soon become the propelling power for the world game industry. Still, the PlayStation 3 will have limited 3D capabilities, and some DVD videos will not play in 3D. The PlayStation also features Move – Sony's motion controller wand , which is almost the same as the one already in use manufactured by Nintendo Co.'s Wii, and is supposed to be released on sale on September 19 in the United States and on October 21 in Japan. By aid of the motion-controller stick and the 'Beat Sketch' software, one can create graphic paintings on the screen. This software comes with a so called 'starter kit' that costs $70 (5,980 yen). For the U.S., a similar bundle for a different game goes for $99.99, with the wand going for $49.99. needless to say, Move is less costly than Microsoft Kinect – a motion control system for games that does not have a wand. In Kinect, all game actions are controlled by the player's movements, so players do not have to use buttons. Now, the PlayStation supports 3D games featuring an upgrade that has been available on the Internet for a while. Sony Computer Entertainment reports about 38 million PlayStation 3 machines having been sold worldwide. |
