Tuesday, 28 September 2010 06:23 |
Beta version of Microsoft Internet Explorer 9 had about 2 million downloads on the first days of its release in accordance with the report from the Microsoft Corporation. The purpose of this release is simple: to keep the lead on the market of browsers where the main competitors of Internet Explorer are Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome. 2 million users were attracted into the rows of followers in the first couple of days, which is the record number because the previous version of the browser was downloaded only by 1.3 million users during the five days after it was released. In spite of it, it does not mean that IE becomes the browser of choice. No matter how impressive the figures are, still the number fails in comparison with popularity of Mozilla Firefox 3. When it was released in 2008, it was downloaded by 8.3 million users within 24 hours. Firefox 3.5 had 2 million downloads during first several hours after it was launched. The debut of IE9 was appointed for the middle of September and took place at San Francisco event Beauty of the Web on the 15th of September. New Microsoft product seems to have intuitive interface and is aimed to work with multimedia sites. It is also worthwhile mentioning that the new browser is capable only in operational systems Windows 7 and Vista. Windows XP was not included into the list. |
