Google asks to hack its browser and even pays for it! |
Friday, 11 February 2011 00:00 |
The Google offered reward to the hacker who will hack its Chrome browser. This is the first time when money was offered by browser maker at the contest of this type. The decision was made after Google discovered that Chrome will not take part in Pwn2Own (the competition for hackers) and will not compete in it as it looks like Apple Safari. This is understandable taken into account the fact that both browsers have the same open browser engine in the basis (which is the Webkit). A year ago Chrome made a good a job at that competition and actually was the best. Besides, other hackers who are able to hack the gadgets easily in addition to different browsers will be rewarded as well. In case somebody manages to hack Safari, the reward $15,000 will be provided. The same prize will be given to the hackers of Windows Phone 7, Blackberry 6 OS, iPhone 4 and Android in addition to the devices the operating systems work on. Windows Phone 7 has not participated before and this is the first time it does. There are doubts that Microsoft is prepared to take part in the competition.
This way the organizers of the event care about the security trying to discover the flaws and bags before it does somebody else. It seems that Google believes firmly in the web browser and offers 20 thousand dollars to any person who is going to hack the Chrome. |
