Wordpress.com was subjected to DDoS attack |

Somebody unknown orchestrated a massive DDoS attack, which paralyzed the functionality of 10% of the sites on WordPress.com globally. WordPress.com is a well-liked blog publishing platform. It was subjected to the most severe DDoS attack it ever had. People from the company are sure that the attack was “politically motivated”. The scale of the attack was so huge that it seriously affected 3 datacenters located in different American cities. The attack was neutralized but the risk of its repetition remained. Matt Mullenweg told it in his interview to TechCrunch. About 30 million websites built on the WordPress platform were affected including TechCrunch, CBS, CNN, and others. Websites powered by WordPress make actually about 10 percent of the sites in the whole world.It is not clear yet who is behind it but the fact that this is non-English blog.
Taking into account a large number of them, this piece of news can be of little help. As political protests occur now everywhere and in virtual space as well, this reason is regarded as the most obvious cause.Actually, WordPress.com became the target of DDoS attack together with a number of other websites. South Korean government proclaimed a cyber security alert saying about the sites of different countries, which suffered from it, comprising the websites of the governments in 29 countries. |
