MyBlogLog is the one more Yahoo victim
Sunday, 13 March 2011 11:55

Yahoo has reported that it is going to close MyBlogLog in May. The event is going to take place on May 24.

Yahoo is closing one more online service that belongs to the company in the effort to reduce expenses and concentrate on its business essentials: Yahoo sent a message to the users of the service, which says about the closure of MyBlogLog and the date appointed for it – May, 24, 2011.

Actually, this is not a big surprise because the MyBlogLog was included into the list of the services, Yahoo reported to be expected to “sunset” at the end of the last year. Those users who have paid for the MyBlogLog services after the May 24, which is a shutdown date, are going to get refunds from the owner. In 2007 Yahoo paid 10 million dollars for MyBlogLog. The idea of this service was to give blog owners an opportunity to introduce the community feature to its resources, alleviating discussion and user involvement and, certainly, page hits.

At the point of the purchase (when Yahoo bought MyBlogLog), over 45,000 blogs used the service. Now blogs are more prone to tap into big social networks such as FaceBook, Twitter and etc. more than rolling the services of their own.Among the services of Yahoo in the state of decline you can find as well AltaVista, which ruled the web prior to Google coming), Yahoo Buzz, Yahoo Bookmarks, Yahoo Picks, in addition to the delicio.us, which is a bookmarking service. Yahoo even reported that it tried to find a buyer for this service.
