Google has brought in a remarkable change in appearance of its Google+ page by giving a list of most used features such as photos, games, mail and other personal profiles on left side of the page in the form of a ribbon. It has also given the option of adding extra icons to the ribbon and removing or hiding the unused icons by the user. Google announced this interesting change on this Wednesday. This change improves lot of scope for further addition of several new features in the future while making it easy for the user to use it. Google published a blog post stating that this ribbon provides lot of space for new feature additions and the company would work on that. Larry Page, CEO of Google Inc. had put this Google+ as the center of attraction in all his efforts so far to bring in and tie up services of several other companies. Google is conscious about the tough competition set by the other social networking site Facebook. Facebook has been providing the users with lot of information pertaining to their interests and other details of social circle that match with their profile. Facebook has also been generating good revenue by publishing ads on the user page. Most of these advertisements are completely relevant to the interests and profile of the user. According to Google, it has so far attracted nearly 170 millions of users in just nine months from its launch which is very small in comparison with the 845 million users of Facebook. Still Google+ has to draw attention of users. It is quiet evident from the fact that an average user is spending merely minutes of time on this page, whereas an average Facebook user spends nearly 6 to 7 hours. This fact was revealed by ComScore Inc, a research company.
It is believed that the new design of Google+ social networking page can retain the user and make him spend some more extra time. In fact the user may find this new Google+ page more pleasant than the Facebook page because of its ease of customization. Besides this some other easy navigation buttons help the user in finding out who have viewed his profile and photo, find and join a new group, do video chatting with anybody and explore the most popular issues. |
