WiFi interoperability problems

While 80wifi interoperability problems2.11n finds its way to the latest models of smartphones, tablets, administrators doubt interoperability. 802.11n popularity is at its rise. The anniversary of WLAN standard after IEEE ratification was celebrated in the beginning of September. Various devices acquire this technology.

But there is much discussion about their interoperability. I was told that investment into wireless technologies is increasing and common employee has 2 or 3 WiFi radios. As for the students, they may have 5 or 6. This increase of devices appeared with 802.11n radios as new technology was adopted. It was predicted recently by ABI Research that 7 billion 802.11n devices are going to come into view during the next 5 years.

Multiple devices with 802.11n radios were tested, but among the most supporting is just 2.4GHz 802.11n thanks to its price in addition to considerations of power usage. IPad and iPhone 4, the BlackBerry Torch 9800 and Motorola's Droid X present examples of 802.11n devices with possibility of connection to WiFi networks.

As the market is flooded with the devices user and experts consider WiFi interoperability is a must. But the real situation fails the expectation.

The matter is that not all devices obtained WiFi interoperability certification. It is given by international association WiFi Alliance. WiFi connectivity problems with range of infrastructures were observed and as it was revealed that for many devices no certification has taken place yet.
