Intel recruits sci-fi writers to dream up future tech |

Leading chipmaker Intel has hired some of the prominent science fiction writers to write short stories on the future of the company’s technologies. This collection of short stories known as The Tomorrow Project wants to acquire the peoples’ attention about Intel’s present research efforts. According to company officials this will assist Intel to foresee customer needs that can be adopted in the company’s future products. Users can download the anthology free from the Internet. Intel’s futurist Brian David Johnson is leading the project and considers the project as an important aspect to satisfy future technical demands. Mr. Johnson mentions that the chip designs used in the TV sets, computers, and phones need to be planned five to ten years in advance. The company requires anticipating the applications of these devices by customers in the future. Science fiction provides a manner to consider the outcomes of the technologies that the company is presently researching considering the needs of those individuals who shall be using these products. This concept known as future casting plans to drive the technical future applications instead of replying to the requirements of the market conditions.
